Agroindustry
Innovative project for the industrialization of agriculture, specifically, the growing of almonds. The project is based on an almond tree farming system in a self-rooted hedge system that seeks, through substantial alterations in the plant and the traditional farming and maintenance system, to optimize productions by making efficient use of resources and, therefore, more sustainable (Sustainable & Efficient System). It is an innovative farming system worldwide, whose demonstration trials began in 2018 and whose first commercial plantation was developed by ISFA in 2020.
At the level of sustainability, this SES crop promotes the reduction and rational use of phytosanitary products and allows efficient management of water resources. It allows to fight against desertification, degraded soils and helps to rehabilitate non-fertile lands while managing to make more efficient the management and harvesting of the crop (less use of energy), At the social level, it promotes technological modernization, agricultural innovation and the need for skilled labor, generates positive impacts on the socio-economic development of rural regions and seeks improvements in occupational safety and health.
The ISFA project consists of several planting phases, the first of them in 2020, with the objective of generating a total cultivated area of approximately 10,000 Ha in Spain (Andalusia, Extremadura and Ebro) and Portugal by the end of 2025.
ISFA (IBERIAN SMART FINANCIAL AGRO), a company that manages intensive agricultural projects, is the promoter of the project, which Mirai joined in its conception phase with the taking of a qualified stake in it and seat on the Advisory Board.
